Behaviour Design For Meaning & Good

October 28, 20241 min read

A couple of days ago, I found myself in a discussion with a colleague about my purpose or "WHY". I mentioned that my goal was to contribute towards making the world a better place. She responded by asking what specific actions I took to achieve this. It made me reflect deeply.

Throughout my career, I have been clear about the value I bring to businesses. In recent years, I have also discovered a passion for teaching. However, it's not just about imparting knowledge; my focus lies in scaling positive behaviour change. I am dedicated to equipping the right individuals with the tools and insights necessary to design and influence behaviour effectively.

This journey isn't just about my personal growth; it's about empowering others to create meaningful impact through their work. By fostering a culture of ethical behaviour design and change, I believe we can collectively contribute to a better world.

Ethics play a pivotal role in behaviour design. It's essential that any effort to influence behaviour is guided by principles of fairness, transparency, and respect for autonomy. In my approach, I emphasise the importance of informed consent and ensuring that individuals understand and willingly engage with the changes being promoted. Upholding ethical standards ensures that our efforts not only achieve positive outcomes but also maintain trust and respect among those affected by our initiatives.

By integrating ethics into behaviour design practices, we can ensure that our contributions to societal change are not only effective but also responsible and sustainable. This perspective drives my commitment to teaching and empowering others to use behaviour design as a force for good, fostering a world where positive behaviours are not just encouraged but are genuinely beneficial to individuals and communities alike.
